A Nordic girl named Åsa travels across various regions of Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, southern Tohoku, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka, exploring local customs and peculiarities. In Kyoto, she experiences a day as a geisha. In Okinawa, she finds it surprising when a convenience store employee offers to heat her rice ball. In Tohoku, she is touched by the sight of unmanned roadside stalls selling vegetables.
