A high school freshman named Shiira lives in a town in Shizuoka that is believed to be at risk of sinking into the sea during a major earthquake. The memory of his mother's death continues to affect him. Anko, his childhood friend, is fond of him and invites him to move to Tokyo with her. Later, Shiira encounters a woman aboard a cruise ship, setting off a series of events that alter the course of his life.
