Hoshizora no Karasu

A thirteen-year-old girl named Karasuma Waka is deeply passionate about the game of go, a love inherited from her grandfather, a professional player. Her enthusiasm is so intense that she neglects personal matters like getting her hair cut. Her mother, however, opposes her playing go due to a negative perception of Waka’s father, who once left to play a game while his wife was dying. After witnessing a match by the skilled professional Sagisaka Souji, Waka becomes determined to pursue a professional career in go, despite her mother’s disapproval. She challenges her mother to a bet: if she wins the next tournament, her mother will let her become a pro; if not, she will give up her dream.
