Mikami Toshiya and Hiraoka Keiji were climbing partners in their early twenties. Over time, Mikami shifted his focus to a stable career and family life, moving away from mountain climbing completely. Hiraoka, however, remained devoted to climbing, to the point of neglecting other aspects of life. The two gradually drifted apart. A new 8000-meter peak has been identified in the Himalayas, with the first successful climber allowed to name it. Hiraoka wants to attempt the climb but needs a partner. Mikami, struggling with his commitment to family versus his lingering passion for climbing, is reconsidering his choices. The possibility of the two reuniting to tackle the challenge remains uncertain.
