The Leviathan is a nuclear power plant that floats by itself somewhere out on the open sea. Yun-Ho and his colleagues arrive to carry out a safety inspection and become trapped when an unexplained explosion severs every link to the mainland. Worse follows: a colossal creature emerges from the smoke pouring off the reactor and starts eating the people who survived the blast. Those left alive fight to escape both the sinking facility and the giant hunting them through it.
