A noble count takes in the orphaned Kaidel, offering him a life of privilege in exchange for one condition: to follow the "ember" and locate the witch responsible for burning his village. Trained as a warrior among alchemists, Kaidel embarks on the quest. He eventually meets a woman with white hair, who is warm and compassionate, unlike the cruel figure described in village tales. This woman is named Eleanor. Kaidel must decide whether to pursue his desire for revenge or be drawn to her kindness.
