Itadakimasu, no Mae to Ato

Mitsuba was sent to live with her grandfather as a child after receiving a lunch box from her mother. Years later, as a high school student, she is reunited with Soma, an elementary school boy who claims to be her younger brother and arrives with her mother’s remains. With assistance from Kai, a local aspiring novelist, they hold appropriate funerals. Mitsuba then chooses to live with Soma, who shares her memory of her mother’s cooking. The story explores their shared connection through food memories, as Mitsuba has lost her own recollection of her mother, while Soma was left behind by her.
