Jungle no Ouja Tar-chan

The manga initially appeared in a 1986 special edition under a different name before being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1988 to 1990 as one title, and then from 1990 to 1995 under a revised name. It began as a short, comedic parody of Tarzan, featuring brief, standalone adventures where the main character defended the savanna, his companions, and the jungle's peace, often with humorous outcomes. Initially, each chapter was only seven pages long. In 1990, the manga transitioned to a monthly release, and the author ended two other series. Two years later, the story expanded to 13-15 pages, the title was updated, and the format shifted to include action and fighting elements. Despite these changes, the series frequently cycled back to its original gag style after each battle. Despite the name, the setting is a savanna, not a jungle.
