Juusei (OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS)

This compilation gathers 11 short manga created by a teenage Otomo Katsuhiro between 1971 and 1974, during his time as a student and emerging artist. Juusei, published in 1973, marked his professional debut at age 19. None of his first seven stories had been previously collected, and some were only listed in another publication. The book includes four entirely unpublished works, along with drafts and submissions from before his debut. These manuscripts have survived remarkably, and their inclusion required special authorization from the artist. The collection offers a rare look at the early development of an artist who would later become internationally renowned. It also features material from the decade before he began work on *AKIRA* in 1983. The book presents a unique opportunity to observe the artistic growth of a future legend.
