Naru Kinboshi, a 15-year-old girl, typically accompanies her parents and younger brother on their global travels. When they plan a trip to Kenya, she chooses to remain in Japan with her brother instead. Struggling financially and unable to afford a rental, Naru looks for work and discovers an opportunity at a boutique once owned by her grandmother, Venus.
