Karamaru-kun Nihon Bare

During the ninth year of the Hanpeï era, a four-year-old ninja named Karamaru-kun sets out to gather and sell mushrooms in town, using the money to purchase medicine and cigarettes for his ill grandfather. Along the journey, he encounters a car thief who also claims to be a ninja. Mistaking Karamaru for a fellow ninja, the thief joins him in confronting a trio of ninja thieves who have stolen his mushrooms. The car thief refrains from stealing a vehicle, as none of the group possesses a driver's license. Concluding that he should set a positive example for the boy, the car thief turns the stolen car over to the authorities and proposes that Karamaru become his apprentice.
