Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED

A space colony called Heliopolis contains a secret weapons lab that builds a battleship and five Gundam prototypes for the Earth Alliance. A rebel military group called ZAFT, made up of genetically enhanced humans, attacks the colony and takes four of the Gundams. Kira Yamato, a civilian with genetic modifications but raised by non-enhanced humans, discovers one of the remaining Gundams during the assault. He ends up piloting it for the Earth Alliance to protect his friends. He faces off in battle against Athrun Zala, his childhood friend and a skilled pilot for ZAFT. Their conflict represents more than just a personal struggle; the fate of a whole group of people is at risk due to the war.
