The narrative centers on Yaeko, the daughter of the Kikuzaka Hotel's owner, whose perspective reveals the lives of historical writers and artists who stayed there. The hotel is inspired by a real location in Hongo where Yumeji Takehisa and his girlfriend, Oha, resided. Through Yaeko's viewpoint, the story explores the experiences of these cultural figures.
