Yamato encounters Onodera on the night of his father's funeral. Onodera remarks that Yamato resembles his father, referring to him as "sensei's son." Later, when they meet to organize Yamato's late father's belongings, Onodera kisses him, causing Yamato distress. Yamato begins to question whether he is being treated as a replacement for his father.
