Yoru was placed in a children’s home at ten after suffering abuse from her mother. Tenjaku, a boy of the same age, becomes her support. As they enter their second year of high school, they have one year remaining before they must leave the home. The story portrays the quiet development of a romantic relationship between them, set against a harsh and unjust environment. It examines how Japanese society treats vulnerable and innocent individuals.
