A young man named Haruichi Azuma, who lost his parents in an accident and was mistreated by relatives who took him in, struggles through life. He is invited by an old friend of his father to work as a caretaker for the friend's daughter. Instead, he meets Tsubaki, the Yaotome family's second daughter, known for being selfish and arrogant. Despite her attitude, Haruichi notices a sense of loneliness in her that mirrors his own.
