Mai Kisaragi is timid and easily taken advantage of. She admires Takumi Kai, a popular basketball player at her school. Her life takes an unexpected turn when, after being teased, she experiences a strange occurrence during basketball practice. A fox spirit named Ran appears and tells her she has fox spirit ancestry. Initially skeptical, Mai comes to believe this when she undergoes a transformation into a fox.
