On the day Haruki graduates from high school, he confesses his feelings to his childhood friend, Renta. During their return journey, they experience an accident. Afterward, Renta appears before Haruki as a spirit. He tells Haruki he will always be by his side and keeps that promise. The day Haruki's favorite childhood friend becomes his lover is also the day Renta turns into a ghost.
