A journalist named Atsuko Shiina wrote a book in 1994 about child abuse titled *Oya ni Naruhodo Muzukashii Koto wa Nai*. In 1996, Sasaya created a manga adaptation of the book, which was published in the magazine *You*. The manga is recognized for contributing to the passage of new child abuse laws in Japan on May 24, 2000, and it was awarded the Avon Educational Award in 2004.
