Theodore was abandoned in a waterway by his half-brother, triggering a memory of his previous life as Kirishima Kagehisa, a Japanese player in the VRMMO game Break Force Online. He had created and played as the Combat Mage character named Theodore, whose abilities continued to develop in this new world. After dismissing his half-brother, Theodore set out toward the large labyrinth located in the Boundary City of Termuilles.
