A vampire awakens after a long period of rest in the Carpathian forest and roams the surrounding mountains. When Karen's brother and father leave for Bucharest, an elderly man with aristocratic features arrives at Karen and her mother's home, asking for shelter from the weather. The encounter alters the course of their lives permanently.
