Tess, an orphan, is informed by Cade, the current heir, that she is entitled to inherit the wealth of her estranged grandfather, Dell Lorimer. Having no positive memories of her father, a drug addict, she initially resists. However, moved by Cade's demeanor and her grandfather's legacy, she agrees to cooperate. She visits the Lorimer business and gradually becomes drawn to Cade.
