A full millennium has gone by since the last dragon vanished from the world. The evening before Rit is due to celebrate her coming-of-age rite, an attacker takes her younger sister's life. Refusing to accept the loss, Rit leaves home on a journey with a single impossible goal: finding a way to bring her sister back from the dead.
