Yuki Anno begins high school with a sense of unease. Adjusting to the new environment is difficult, especially since she is separated from her best friend, Jiu. Feeling isolated, she attempts to connect with others. When she enters her classroom, the large number of unfamiliar faces unsettles her. Outside, a boy named Yuki Saeki approaches and greets her, claiming to be related to Jiu. The two exchange a written conversation on a sheet of paper. Later, Yuki visits Saeki and Jiu, expressing interest in becoming the football team manager, though she is uncertain, noting that other girls in her class might be more suitable.
