Prince Ludwig, who collects female corpses, is tasked by his father with finding a wife superior to the women he typically brings to the castle. Accompanied by his servant Wilhelm, he journeys through the land in search of maidens from well-known stories, seeking a suitable bride. The narrative presents a dark and realistic interpretation of traditional fairy tales.
