Maa-chan no Nikkichou
マアチャンの日記帳
A four-panel comic strip originally published in a newspaper, it centers on Ma-chan, a young preschool boy. Ma-chan and his companion Ton-chan frequently get into playful squabbles. The comic highlights post-war Japan, particularly through Ma-chan's preference for learning the English alphabet from American soldiers over the traditional Japanese phonetic system taught by his father.
