Macross Delta Gaiden: Macross Extra

A spin-off of the Macross Δ anime, it is set five years before the main series. In A.D. 2059, following the Vajra War, a mysterious illness called Vár Syndrome spreads across the galaxy, affecting all life forms. The previously docile Una-mushi, or Eel Bug, becomes aggressive, threatening the population of the planet Pipré. By A.D. 2062, the Pipré Branch of the interplanetary security contractor Chaos initiates an experiment using the female idol group Thrones. The project aims to test the influence of music and their "Fold Receptors" as a means to combat the effects of Vár Syndrome. This initiative is known as "Project Thrones."
