The Gilbert family is believed to have played a key role in the conflict against evil sorcerers during a past Great Fire. Ewald admired his uncle, who became a general of the Holy Knights in that battle and was given a treasure by the royal family. Ewald suspected that the treasure, stored securely in the Gilbert family's vault, could be the "One and Only Grimoire," an item said to contain a sorcerer's dark power. However, he later discovers that a book resembling this grimoire is being offered for sale on the black market.
