Maitetsu

In a fictional version of Japan called Hinomoto, railways were once the primary means of transportation, with each train assisted by a humanoid control module known as a RailRoad. As aerocrafts gained popularity, many rail lines were abandoned, and their RailRoads fell into dormancy. A boy named Soutetsu, who was adopted by the Migita family after losing his family in a train accident, returns to his hometown of Ohitoyo to prevent a proposed aerocraft factory from causing water pollution. While there, he accidentally awakens a RailRoad named Hachiroku and becomes her owner. To locate her missing locomotive, they team up with Soutetsu’s stepsister Hibiki, the town mayor and railway chief Paulette, and others, each with their own motivations.
