In 2001, Kyōko Shimazu, a manga artist, began experiencing uncontrollable shaking starting in her right hand and spreading to the right side of her body. Medical professionals initially dismissed her concerns, advising her to rest and relax. Despite quitting manga work and focusing on sleep, her condition deteriorated. Over seven years, she consulted multiple doctors in search of answers. Eventually, she received a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, a chronic and progressive neurological condition.
