In a society where magic is standard, a nobleman's son is born without any magical ability. He dedicates himself to sword training in hopes of contributing. Disowned by his family as worthless, he is sent to a monster-infested forest. Overcome with hopelessness, a creature confronts him. As he prepares to face death, a discarded sword beside him begins to speak.
