Two siblings, Kiichi and Kanoko, relocate to the countryside after the death of their parents to live with their relatives, the Toba family. The family is protected by a 150-year-old hearth deity known for his harsh words and unfriendly demeanor, though he is secretly kind and protective. This deity chooses Kiichi as his successor, drastically altering the siblings' lives. The story is a fantasy centered on rural life and emotional experiences.
