A type of mechanical being known as "Machines" offers their Hosts wealth and success under the condition that the Host never forms a romantic attachment. If this rule is broken, the Machine seeks retribution in blood. The Gari family, both users and enforcers of these Machines, often appears at the scene of such violations, dealing with the aftermath of the resulting violence.
