A man named Reigen offers exorcism services at low rates by using a student assistant named Shigeo, who possesses genuine psychic abilities. Shigeo is a shy, well-meaning boy who keeps his emotions tightly controlled to avoid overwhelming others. Reigen relies on Shigeo's powers to maintain his business while also acting as his guide and advisor.
