Durua Valrose discovers at a young age that she has been reborn as the antagonist in a novel, fated to be killed by the male lead, Nocturne Edgar. She attempts to alter her destiny by trying to connect with him. Unbeknownst to her, Nocturne is the sole surviving black mage capable of perceiving and influencing thoughts and emotions. He finds Durua puzzling, as she is the first person unaffected by his abilities, which unsettles and fascinates him. Their relationship is tense, and Durua remains uncertain if her actions are reshaping her fate or leading her closer to her original end.
