Mofumofu de Mukomuko

Fujijiro, the fourth son of a wealthy family, dreams of becoming a novelist but is overshadowed by his more successful siblings. A marriage proposal from a distant landowner offers him a chance to gain property and independence. Upon arriving, he discovers the landowner is a local land-god who, by tradition, requires a marriage offering every 50 years. Fujijiro is to be that offering.
