The Empire's side fields AI-driven robots while the other relies on human operatives enhanced by a bioweapon called Gaia. Reid earns legendary status as the foremost Gaia warrior of the conflict, and once the fighting ends he is given a new posting: bodyguard to Spia, the Mother's Speaker 52.
