Yousuke Yamamoto is a low-achieving individual who feels lost after the death of a close friend. His life takes a sudden turn when he meets Eri Yukizaki, a girl dealing with her own sorrow. During an encounter, a large creature wielding a chainsaw descends from the sky and attacks her, setting Yousuke on a path toward discovering his own meaning in life.
