A furniture restoration specialist named Clare takes on a new assignment, only to discover the client is Nicholas Dargan, a high-profile business executive. A year earlier, she had planned to marry Nicholas’s cousin, but the relationship ended abruptly when Nicholas intervened, sending his cousin away and preventing Clare from seeing him. She remains bitter over how he handled the situation. Despite her feelings, she agrees to the job, drawn in by the opportunity to work in a historic and beautiful home.
