Takakura Yorizo, a regular office worker, dies of a heart attack and is reborn in a different world. Instead of being reincarnated with special abilities, he becomes Walm, a soldier in the Hyserk Empire, a small country surrounded by powerful nations. He is immediately thrust into the front lines of war, where he and his fellow soldiers face deadly battles, marked by blood and the stench of death. Opposing them are adventurers with strong magic and teleporting warriors known as "heroes" who use immense destructive power. Amidst the intense warfare, Walm's latent combat abilities begin to emerge. His vision darkens as the story of this war unfolds.
