A man named Soh Fujima has been isolated and unmotivated since his cat died. He lives on the sixth street, where residents are upset about a large number of stray cats. Unaware of the growing problem, Fujima observes as the cats are captured and taken away. A powerful woman named Maki Mishima intervenes to stop the removal of the strays. The story explores how Mishima attempts to prevent the cats from being relocated and whether Fujima can assist. It also raises the question of what a "cat-munity" truly is.
