Claren is a half-breed princess from a group of barbarians who has been physically weak since childhood and is unable to walk. Neglected by her servants and ultimately abandoned by her family during a conflict with the Kailom barbarian nation, she seeks vengeance by betraying the royal family to Kailom. For her actions, she is rewarded with a title. Later, when Claren gains the king's favor and rises in status, Dean, a former slave who has fled, appears before her.
