In a contemporary setting where magical abilities are available through subscription and can be used by the general public, a government body works to contain spells considered harmful. Segawa Ryūsei is assigned to the Spell Security Coordination Office under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. He is sent to Chiba Prefecture, where he meets Nabatame Junmi, a young girl who demonstrates exceptional skill in developing new spells.
