Hatsuko marries Seiichi, a young corporate leader, and moves into a grand home with his grandmother, Chinatsu. After living abroad for many years, Chinatsu recently lost her husband and behaves unpredictably, often criticizing Hatsuko. The story explores whether Hatsuko can gain Chinatsu's approval.
