A 13-year-old girl named Hasegawa Ichigo, who has always been cheerful and lively, begins middle school alongside her childhood friend Chihiro. As she enters adolescence, she realizes she makes frightening expressions when interacting with boys she finds attractive. Before starting school, she encounters a boy from her new school who gives her an unusual creature, claiming she had dropped it. She is drawn to the boy, but her reaction scares him away.
