Kana Morimoto, an eighth grader, feels self-conscious about her naturally curly hair. Struggling with schoolwork, friendships, and romantic relationships, she finds support in the kindness of classmate Nakayamate Sen. Before realizing it, she develops feelings for him. Kana sees their relationship as balanced, but they eventually attend different high schools. The story explores themes of love, adolescence, and personal development.
