A few months after the conclusion of the first series, Shinkurou and Suzu have married and are now serving as retainers for the ruling family of Ima. As they adjust to their quiet new life, they receive a summons from a high-ranking official, demanding they travel to the capital. During their journey, they encounter robbers and demons, and are pursued by a mysterious spirit appearing as a young boy. To confront the supernatural threats, they reconnect with former allies and form new partnerships.
