A high school student, Mamiya Tetsuo, is living independently and attempting to save money, as is his neighbor, Yamano-san. To cut costs, they have tried making homemade lunches and sharing food, but these efforts are insufficient. With summer approaching, rising electricity costs, particularly for air conditioning, add to their financial concerns. As they consider possible solutions, Yamano-san suggests a surprising way to reduce expenses: they should live together in one room to cut their electricity bill in half. While the idea is logical, it raises questions about how serious Yamano-san is about the proposal.
