The Strange Tale of Panorama Island·パノラマ島綺譚
A remote island is home to a man who constructs a lavish playground of indulgence, surrounded by waterfalls, palaces, and gardens. In 1920s Japan, Hitomi, a failed novelist, discovers that a wealthy industrialist has died and devises a plan to assume the man’s identity. He stages his own death, conceals the body, and arrives on the island as a starving castaway. Taking the place of the deceased heir, Hitomi assumes control of his life, business, and family. He gradually uses the inherited fortune to pursue his own desires. The story is based on a classic novella by Edogawa Rampo, a pioneer of Japanese pulp mysteries, and is illustrated by Suehiro Maruo, a renowned manga artist.
