Patalliro!

A tropical island in the South Seas, Malynera, is home to lush forests, vast lakes, and diamond-rich mountains. The island's ruler is a ten-year-old boy named Patalliro the 8th, known for his energetic and unpredictable nature. He exhibits moments of brilliance and childishness, often making poor decisions despite his intelligence. The story follows Patalliro as he faces various bizarre challenges, including encounters with international criminals, extraterrestrials, and time travel mishaps. His first major challenge arises when the International Diamond Syndicate attempts to seize control of the island's diamond mines. During a visit to Britain, he is assigned a bodyguard named Bancoran and meets Maraich, one of the assassins sent by the syndicate. Patalliro is constantly accompanied by a group of masked, identically dressed guards known as the Tamanegi, who serve as both his protectors and a safeguard against his unpredictable actions.
